Anthrocon will be at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, PA.

It’s the return of Anthrocon! — Fursuiters are finally coming back to Pittsburgh after missing two years of the convention. People on Tiktok and Twitter are posting their excitement of coming back as well as getting prepared.

This convention can be fun with its benefits, making new friends and more! However, there are things and tips that you should know, just to be safe and sound at the convention.

Here’s what you need to know before attending to AC this year:

Penn Avenue in Pittsburgh, PA.

There will be a Fursuit Block party after the fursuit parade on Saturday, July 2nd.

Penn Avenue will be shutting down to vehicle traffic from 9th Street to 11th Street, where the residents of Pittsburgh will be invited to meet and greet with the fursuiters, weather permitting. How’s that for exciting? Just be careful and wear your mask while outside.

You will be with a lot of people and it’s best to stay 6 feet if you can, just to be safe! However, this tip along with the next one are important.

You’ll need to get your COVID-19 and Registration documents.

According to the convention’s website, you’ll need to have one of their accepted documentations to get your registration. For example, a digital or physical proof of full vaccination with approved vaccines, or a certified negative COVID test from a proctored test (not a home test kit). Here’s more information on the topic.

Please do this accordingly, then you’ll be able to enjoy the convention safely!

Plan your travel and backup plans early.

For car travelers: Make sure to plan your routes and stops ahead of time and ensure that you have areas to rest, re-fuel, and get assistance if needed.

For plane travelers: Be sure to stay informed of your local airport and airline’s travel conditions as delays and/or cancellations may occur for various reasons. Here’s more info for more of AC’s Travel tips.

Be sure that you have ways to pay during/after the convention.

Please before you go and buy merch, food, and rooms, make sure that you have enough to pay for things, such as bank and credit cards. Be sure that they have funds in them as well!

Anthrocon: there are ATMs and local banks in the immediate convention area if you need more cash while at the convention. For those looking to conserve their spending, try and budget for at least two solid meals a day — the most important part of your convention spending!

Check your packing bags before leaving.

There will be times where you will almost forget to bring something improtant to the con and it’s frustrating. Be sure to make a packing list and double-check everything so that frustration can be prevented.

Forgetting that one thing when it’s too late can be disappointing, and can make the convention difficult to enjoy.

And that’s all you need to know before going to AC this year. Let me know if these tips were helpful and if you have any questions/want to learn more, go check out Anthrocon’s website and email them!

If you want, go check out the rest of their tips. They are helpful too.
